Knoppix can't read partition table

Hi, I just tried Knoppix 3.3. The CD test (MD5) passed, and it works great... except it can not read my IDE hardrive's partition table. I have FAT32 (Win98) partition for hda1, and hda2 is reiserfs and hda3 is linux swap. Both Windows 98 and Redhat 9 boot fine off the HD. I tried fdisk /mbr (I boot Redhat from a floppy), but Knoppix still can't read the partition table. What's strange is that Knoppix autodetects all three partitions and puts shortcuts to them on the KDE desktop. But they won't mount, including, i.e, mount -t reiserfs /dev/hda2 /mnt/hda2. fdisk from inside Knoppix says I have no partition table. When the knoppix linux kernel first boots, it says ldm_validate_partition_table(); disk read failed" Any ideas? Thanks a lot!
