kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k scsi_hostadapter, errno = 2


keep on saying the line/ entry listed below on my boot.log file. what does it mean? how do i stop it from showing up?Red Hat Linux 9

kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k scsi_hostadapter, errno = 2

Well the kernel is trying to load a module. The error number 2 means that the file is not found. This could be because the file doens't exist or because the root filesystem hasn't been loaded at that time yet.

For the scsi_hostadapter you would usually add an alias in your /etc/modules.conf file like this:

alias scsi_hostadapter aha1542

You would need to have the aha1542 module compiled for this though (Or whatever other driver you use).

You could always try compiling it directly into the kernel instead of as a module.
