Killing session on Rehat Enterprise Linux 3

Hi,

Whenever I log into my system, some programmes(eg. Evolution Mail, Open office etc.) automatically get restarted. Could anyone suggest me how I can kill the session so that when I log in next time the programmes don't get restarted?

I am using Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.

Thanks in advance
Firoz

What kind of programs? If they are system services, they can be disabled using the chkconfig command or by running system-config-services in the command line or gui.
