Keyboard problem on FC3 (through putty)

Hi!

I recently got a strange problem on my FC3 box:
When I log on through putty ssh, and type the letters æ,ø or å (hope you can read these letter?) from a norwegian keyboard, the key cache gets delayed...
Example:
When I write "løv" the output on the screen becomes:
"l" on the first key pressed
"l" is still on the screen, but nothing else happens on the second (ø) key pressed
"lø" on the third key pressed
And to complete the word, I need to hit another key, i.e. space, which will produce the following result: "løv "

So the problem is that as soon as I hit æ, ø or å, the next key pressed will not be output before I hit another.... But if I hit a "normal" key after æ,ø or å, things will turn back to normal on the next key pressed.

This problem is not there if I log directly on the FC3 box, nor if I sit on my own PC, so it has something to do with either the sshd on FC3 or the Putty client.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
TylerD

if it's possible for you, try logging into the FC box with ssh (this implies using another linux box). This should tell you (assuming ssh doesn't have that problem) whether the problem is with sshd or putty.

the general idea: whenever there's a problem with >1 components, replace each of the components (in turn) with one that's known to work, thus eliminating the possibility that _that_ component is broken. Of course, you should know that the working component really works; a good indication is that it's been used in a working configuration.

Thanks for the reply!

I have tried it with Cygwin/X's ssh client as well... But I think I've figured it out, at least in Putty:
I changed the encoding from 8859-Latin1-West Europe to UTF-8! That seem to have done it. I now have "`" and "´" as well, so all is good again. Must have been a problem since day one, but I haven't noticed it before now...lol

Cheers,
TylerD
