keyboard command
hello,
er, isnt there a combination of keyboard strokes that will drop linux from runlevel 5 (xwindow) to runlevel 3 (text command line)? like alt/ctrl/esc or something? thanks for any help. i want to try sndconfig from runlevel 3 to see if that helps with getting my soundcard working. i've seen comments in this forum and in rh 8.0 documentation that sndconfig needs to be done on runlevel 3. |

hello,
thank you! |
Sounds like you got the help you needed but it sounds like you might have been thinking of Ctrl-Alt-F(n) if you've started X from the command line. That'll take you back to a command line while X is still running and (in my case) Ctrl-Alt-F8 takes me back to X.
Ctrl-Alt-Backspace kills X, but it's better to exit normally if possible. |
and thanks- i have my system set to boot in to x- i like to use a combination of command line and gui , i'm a mousin' kind of guy.
i think i could also enter at a command line that blinks briefly before x starts. anyway thanks again. |
