kernel value definitions


wondered if anyone could help me out by giving me some definitions of the following kernel values (* these are types of values, but that's about all i know about them, any info about these values or types of values will help me)

I/O Buffers
TTYMON
MAX INODE
UMASK
MAX PROC
* FSFLASHR
* SHMMAX
* TSMAXUPRI

Maybe tell us *why* you would need those? I mean, if it's for tweaking stuff, then some of them can be set using sysctl or in the kernel source code.
