Kernel Questions.

1. I saw before long time ago a site that teaches how to remove unwanted portions of the Kernel. Can't fidn that site again now. Is this process still done ? Why is it not discussed in the LFS manual ?

2. What are the tests for the newly installed kernel and how can one run them ?

3. I can't find lilo.conf.

Please assist.

Thanks.

Vijay

1. google for "how to build a linux kernel " :-)

2. does is boot ?
is all your needed hardware recognized ?
are all needed protocols, networks, power management, etc. supported ?

3. you probably use "grub" then :-)
if /etc/lilo.conf does not exist you might want to look for /boot/grub/menu.conf

Chapter 8 of the LFS manual discusses the Linux kernel and compiling/testing. I felt that this material was incomplete/clear. Hence, my original post.
