yeap this sound like when you boot loader lilo or grub and your /etc/fstab file is not in sync and not pointing to root tree where the folder /sbin/unit is placed . that's my thought. three reasons why it would fail. one does not exist two pointed to the wrong location for root three the /sbin/unit program is not set to executable. most likly your boot option is not in sync with your /etc/fstab file
which means your boot loader isn't pointing to the correct root tree root=/dev/?
the out put is
