kernel options question
Hi Linux folk
The kernel setup from most distros chooses a kernel timer setting of 250Hz, this affecting desktop response-vs-running applications.
I would love to change the option affecting the kernel timer - from 250Hz to 300Hz or even 1000Hz, so that I can run the Rosegarden MIDI audio application.
There is a file in every /boot (automatically generated - do not edit) with a name beginning config-.. where all the kernel options are set out. I can see the CONFIG_PREEMPT... settings which I think are the ones important.
Do I have to re-compile the kernel to get this change - or is there some kernel boot command option that can do it instead?
Thanks if you can help.
