I have successfully configured an ISA network card module by passing io and irq info in /etc/modules.conf and then installing the module with insmod. The only problem is I have to manually repeat the insmod after a reboot. How do I automate this process?
This is very distribution dependant. Assuming you are running Mandrake 8.2 as you indicated in your profile, these settings are stored in /etc/modules.conf. The actual module loading is done elsewhere however.
Absolutely. The module info is in /etc/modules.conf. It is the automatic module loading on booting that I need to sort out. I assume there is a script somewhere that I need to insert the module name/alias but I'm blowed if I can find it
There is a "correct" place where mandrake's configuration programs like to put things like this. I not sure where it is, which is one of the reasons I use Slackware instead.
Doesn't Mandrake still use a modified version of Linuxconf (drakeconfig or something?) to configure all this stuff? You should be able to convince it to do the right thing, or at least get close, then manually edit the /etc/modules.conf to dial it in.
