kernel configuration

I try to make my kernels and now I just noticed some options such as the EFI-based Framebuffer Support is missing from the 2.6.29.1 kernel. I copied my .config from 2.6.29 and ran
make menuconfig
the EFI option is missing.
If I ran
make defconfig
the EFI option is viewable.
if i ran
make oldconfig
it takes its configuration from some configuration I dont need.
Anyone know if EFI is dropped from 29.1, or am I doing something wrong?

You cannot just copy the config. You have to copy the source code files for the EFI_based framebuffer into the source for 2.6.29.1. Then you probably have to choose the option to allow old modules.
