kernel compiling errors related to file paths

I'm trying to compile a kernel for my phone and I'm getting file path errors. I can fix most of them by changing the paths to the full path to the file.

Example:
./rndis_ipa_trace.h
to
/home/srg/Projects/arm-compiler/kernel/android_kernel_xiaomi_msm8937-cm-13.0/drivers/net/ethernet/msm/rndis_ipa_trace.h

But this one has me stumped

/home/srg/Projects/arm-compiler/kernel/android_kernel_xiaomi_msm8937-cm-13.0/include/trace/define_trace.h:83:43: fatal error: ./rndis_ipa_trace.h: No such file or directory
#include TRACE_INCLUDE(TRACE_INCLUDE_FILE)

If I change this to the direct path I'll break things. Is there any way I can set something in the terminal so I don't have to keep entering in full path locations?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi srgrusso,

Welcome to LQ!

If your getting errors because of files that can't be found, there is something wrong. Have a look at this: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/...-arm64-msm8996
