Greetings, I have recently installed rh7.1, previously I was using mandrake 7.2. Where does rh keep its configuration file for the same setup of its binary? When i make xconfig, I get a vanilla kernel, and it also looks like some things are missing eg the option for my usb webcam(ov511.o module) is greyed out! do I have to patch the kernel to include this support? With mandrake when I make xconfig everything is at mandrakes default settings,so if i compile it without changing anything I get a copy of the original kernel.
thanks for your help

the kernel usually gets unpacked in /usr/src/linux/, if u run & save (x)config its saved as /usr/src/linux/.config .
read here how to learn compile a kernel the proper way.

u see the problem with all these shinier-than-windows Windowmanagers/distro's is that by using the GUI, u loose all the real power linux posesses. it numbs the mind cuz it makes things easy without knowing whats "under the hood".
