Kernel (and me) panic. Attempted to kill init!
I'm am very worried here. I am using red hat 9, and my laptop was
acting sluggish this afternoon, so I rebooted to speed it up. Halfway through boot I get this: ... init: eroor while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6 cannot handle TLS data Kernel panic: Attempted to kill init! _ Then boot stops and I am left with those words and the leds for my caps lock and num lock are blinking. I didnt make any major systemwide changes. I did install a bunch of packages recenty (some forced) so that I could get Anjuita (the programming app) to work. I was going to install the last few packages after I rebooted. Could this have something to do with it? What can I do? I have tried the boot recovery disk, and it dosnet work. I can get to a shell through my install CD, but all of my files are missing, and there is only the core OS components visible. Help me please :( -LBB |
Sounds like you killed libc, which pretty much everything depends on...

Ooookay. Is there any way I can 'un-kill' it? I'm trying to be optimistic here. :)
