Kernel 2.5.70 problems

Hi!

I just downloaded and installed linux 2.5.70 .I followed the usual procedure.
However my mouse is not working now. I've compiled the support for mouse
into the kernel itself:

CONFIG_MOUSE_SERIAL=y

gpm gives message:

/dev/mouse: Connection refused

(where /dev/mouse is symlink to /dev/cua0. This works on my 2.4 kernel)

I've also compiled modules for my sound card, which also doesnt work.

#lsmod
gives blank output.
I've updated modutils to the latest version (0.9.12)

Is this the result of beta version of kernel or have i missed something?

Please guide.

Hi

FYI

2.5 series is only for testing and not recommended for daily use or for production

this may be a bug

boot thru 2.4 series and see whether u get the same error

i found out that 2.5.70 does have a lot of compilation error. namely something had to do with _mem_copy_ environment variables (i donno why that happens but heck, probably some old config taht is incompatible?)

Personally, I'm waiting for a stable public release before switching to 2.5
