Keeping dialup alive

Just a quick question,

recently reinstalled redhat 7.3...all very nice, but i noticed when i log out for whatever reason the modem connection resets!, on my previous redhat 7.2 machine this was not the case, it stayed alive when i logged off.

I am sure there is a quick easy fix fo this but i dunno what it is!!...

its damn annoying have to reconnect every time i log off or when another user requires the machine!

anyone got any ideas!

cheers:D

Where and how did you invoke the modem connection?

When I had a modem connection I used to invoke it with

wvdial&

from the command line, then boot into X.

then when I needed to stop it

killall wvdial
