kdm login user list ( not showing)

ok at one point i stummbled onto a site where it described how to fix this, but i lost it , and can not find it.. which sucks..lol

here is my problem, on the kdm theme, the suse defualt there is suposd to be a "user list" on the left hand side of thw whit line., i have it on my 32 bit install on my laptop, an i have seen screenshots of it on google..(lol)

does any one know how to fix this glitch?? thanks

System specs:: suse 10.0 x86_64 :: KDE 3.4.3

Log in as root and run kcontrol (control center). Click on System Administration -> Login Manager -> Users -> Show list. Then click on Apply.

yes it is check, i even looked in the kdmrc file, its enabled gui stlye, and seems to be enablbed on the file, but it is not appearing

any other suggestions?
