Kdevelope KDE C++ system()

Not sure if this is the right place to post this.

I am trying to develop some applications with Kdevelope KDE/C++ and I would like to run a linux sommnad such as "ps" which I have working using system("ps"). I would like to "pipe" the output of that call to a string instead of the command line.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this question.

Pete
