Linus Torvalds states that Gnome has been dumbed down too much -> Linux fires latest shot in Gnome wars.

I have both running on my laptop ... and I mostly agree with Linus.

Though ... it really should depend on who the target of the desktop is. For an administrator I find it lacking ... as a GUI user I believe that it has all that is required.

How many GNOME users started feeling like they're being treated like idiots because Linus said so? If what Linus said is true, and GNOME users didn't realize it before he said it.. then perhaps they really are idiots and should continue to use GNOME.

In any case. I find that it's worth using KDE if you plan on using KDE-oriented applications (which there are *a lot* of).

If you find KDE vs GNOME a difficult choice, let me help you by telling you those are not the only desktop environments available. Take a look at XFCE for example. Don't even get me started on Window Managers (p.s. wm2 > *).

So anyway.. I would think twice before starting a "KDE vs GNOME" poll; for one it most likely already exists somewhere on LQ.

Good luck with your choice.
