KDE themes how to?

Can anyone tell me how to create and modify KDE themes (for KDE 3.3.x and higher)? I don't mean about using wizards, but creating icons, changing toolbar look and such... I think of about advanced KDE themeing... I want to first know where KDE "program files" and theme files stored ( also theme files like config files for example decorating windows and etc.) The idea is to make my own theme where I want to change that "start" icon, toolbar position and look, wallpaper, use some default window decaration and possibly default icon set. Where are the config files where this information is stored? I need to do all this and make it to boot automaticly on a LiveCD ditro that I am making (knoppix remastering).
Also, can anyone tell me where are those "start" menu items stored (that folder tree like accesories, programs etc.)

For KDE you can modify themes, change toolbar, window, icons..using Desktop Settings Wizard Under Preferences under the menu.
