KDE package remover?
what is the command line for that program? and also, how can i uninstall KDE and reinstall it?
|
Packaging programme for KDE... kpackage?
Why un-install it? Why not just over-install it. Get the rpm/dev/tgz files and just re-install them with the --force option. Will overwrite anything that is already there... but it doesn't do dependency checking, so you may need to look out for that. |
The command is kpackage. However, if your attempting to un/reinstall KDE, I would suggest using YAST2 to do it.

hmm, maybe you can help me with this..... i just want to completly remove everything KDE, then install Gnome..... how can i do this?
note: im still a newbie |
Which distro are you running?
|
If you have the space, why not just install Gnome as well? That way you can run either KDE or Gnome applications regardless of which desktop environment you are using.
|
And if you use a graphical login manager, you can effortlessly switch between windowing environments using the Session menu (at least on Red Hat distros).

I'm running mandrake 9.2
and i dont have the space to have both, so its one or the other, so HOW can i uninstall KDE then install Gnome? thanks! :newbie: |
first of all, kpackage doesnt work!
second of all, im not useing a graphical login thinger fourthly i think i still have bits and peices of Gnome on... Basicly, i just want to get rid of everything Gnome and KDE..... then start over (i screwed up some files and i just want to have a clean start to KDE or Gnome) So, how can i uninstall EVERYTHING KDE and Gnome then reinstall KDE or Gnome (which do you perfer?) thanks :newbie: |
OK.. I guess YaST2 won't work then... however, I'm sure Mandrake has some central system configuration tool like YaST2. I suggest using it to remove the unwanted programs. They are much more reliable in removing unwanted software without creating system inconsistencies.
