KDE keeps loading!

Ok, so maybe the subject isn't the most helpful, but it still gets my problem across:

my system keeps automatically launching into KDE. i don't want it to. I like gnome.

my question is therefore this: where are all the places one would have to check to ensure that KDE does _not_ automatically load? i've already used the Mandrake 9.1 control center, and it's set to gnome. doesn't help

anyone else have this problem? thx in advance

from a xterm or the command line.....xwmconfig
a menu should show itself with all window manager options available to you.
