KDE gets stuck on system services

I have noticed that if my ethernet cable is plugged into my laptop when I first start my debian KDE when xwindows starts and gets to System Services it hangs forever. When the cable is not plugged in to my laptop it starts fine.

Another issue that I am having is that when I try to use iceweasel it acts like I am not connected to the internet, but Konqueror works fine. I am a total noobie with linux so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

another thing that might help you help me figure this out, is that when the system is starting up it says something along the lines of :: there's a problem with /etc/netword/devices. I have looked at the file and everything appears to look correct.
