KDE desktop ignores my settings on what icons to display

I can't make my KDE desktop display an icon for the CD I just inserted. I have the desktop behavior set to display every type of medium or device. I just tested it by going back to the Device Icons tab and unchecking every type of medium or device. My drives didn't disappear from the screen. So I guess my settings are being ignored. Any suggestions?

Not sure. What's the quickest way I can tell? All I know is I have the KDE that came with MEPIS 7.
