KDE Config files - manually adding key shortcuts

I am currently doing some remote work on tablet PC's that we have scurrying about the warehouses. In order to save myself from being run over I decided to do it with a remote connection. The point of this is that I'm adding a program and a shortcut to it on the desktop of these tablet pc's so the users can run the screen calibration without having to bring it all the way back to me or getting upset and breaking the thing. I'm able to add the necessary files just fine, however there is one issue. One of the other things that needs to be done is so set a hotkey on the tablet to start the program as a failsafe to the icon on the screen. I have done this through the KDE Menu Edit on the ones I have direct access to. The remote ones are a little different. I need to know how I can manually add a keyboard shortcut to an application. I know a little bit about the kde menu directory files but I have yet to find a file that stores the keyboard shortcuts that were set in kdemenuedit. I currently have fedora core 4 and running kde 3.5. Any help would be much appreciated.

thanks

I think the configuration file that you need to edit is ~/.kde/share/config/khotkeysrc. I'm sure that file is altered whenever you change your khotkeys settings in KDE Control Center>System>KHotKeys but the syntax looks pretty cryptic to me. Why don't you just use KHotKeys in the KDE Control Center through a remote desktop app like TightVNC? Or if you can do one locally and note the changes to khotkeysrc, you could conceivably make the same additions to all the other kohotkeysrc files remotely.

I was able to edit the file and get my necessary info for the hot key. however, the key that we want to use for the calibration give the code ALT+CTRL+DELETE, which is already used to bring the shutdown/restart/logoff prompt. when editing through kmenuedit it reassigns it. any suggestions where that code may be where I could take out the association for bringing up the shutdown prompt.
