when i try to burn a project i get this error message:
K3b did not find a suitable writer. You will only be able to create an image.
i am running kernel 2.6.7 and have ide-scsi as a module.
i run cdrecord -scanbus and get this:
Cdrecord 2.00.3 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2002 Jörg Schilling
cdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot open '/dev/pg*'. Cannot open SCSI driver.
cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure you are root.
cdrecord: For possible transport specifiers try 'cdrecord dev=help'.
First of all, if you want SCSI emulation, you have to tell the kernel at boot time with the "hdx=ide-scsi". However, if you're using 2.6 and you have an up-to-date version of cdrecord, you don't need scsi emulation. You just need to tell cdrecord that your device is an ATAPI device. Try "cdrecord dev=ATAPI -scanbus". Then, to burn stuff, use "cdrecord dev=ATAPI:X,X,X ..." where the X's are whatever numbers you see when you do the scanbus.
With k3b, you need to make sure it is properly configured. Run k3bsetup as root to set everything up.
i ran "cdrecord dev=ATAPI -scanbus" in the terminal as root then ran the k3b setup program and it works now. i guess the cdrecord command fixed it since i have ran the k3b setup program before. thanks for the help
