Just want to clear things up

OK I am setting up a web server which will host multiple sites(virtual Name Based Hosting)

www.domain1.com
www.domain2.com
www.domain3.com
www.domain4.com

When setting up the machine it asks for the host, domain name.

From my limited understanding host is what is before the domain name.

for instance on the domains listed above the host is "www". and the domain is the other part.

So what domain do I enter when setting up the server.

Thanks

You can actually name the machine and domain whatever you want really, it doesn't have to match what the server will be named for the webserver. Like I have a machine hosting trickykid.org , but on my network the actual hostname is blackhole with a domain of austin.rr.com.. but you type trickykid.org, the DNS redirects you to my site. Its all really a matter of preferences really.
