hi everyone, this was the first time i am using this site and overall i am an newbie to linux. i got my system installed with rhel4. iwould like to view my system configuration i.e amount of ram, hdd, processor architecture and model, motherboard make and model....etc. one more question, is there any other way to restore linux os just like system restore in windows. waiting for ur reply. thanks in advance.

You can get some information on your processor and memory by commands

cat /proc/cpuinfo
cat /proc/meminfo

Some information about the peripherials can be found by

lspci
lsusb

I don't know about the motherboard.

If you type "apropos hardware" in a terminal are given any likely choices?
