I recently installed Fedora Core 4 64-bit on my computer, and I checked the version and I've installed it correctly, how do I get get firefox to recognize it? I'm sorta lost on how to get it to move so firefox will recognize it. Help?
forget about firefox x86_64. There's nothing spectacular about it. There no flash and limitted java support. Remove firefox(64bit), and install the 32 bit version. You can go to the mozilla-firefox site or use yumex to get it, just force i386 mode to get the correct package.
I'm pretty new to linux.. only been using it a couple months, I was on Ubuntu 5.10 and decided to try fedora core, and a few others, and got on here and its an alright interface, I like Suse or Mandriva more tho, but I have this problem with every version of Linux, i can get java installed, but I can never get my firefox to recognize it.. and I keep forgetting the command to type in, I have tried Slackware, and thought I had it installed right and then i got some kind of grub error, and it was first time messing with a text based install and was pretty lost cause i'm used to GUI and everything easy, but i like trying new things and giving myself a challenge, and linux has done that, just still tryint to figure everything out lol..
How do I want to put this... Ignorance is not a defence... The sun website provides instructions on how to install java/jre on linux. They are very clear. Linux is a great system, but it soes require a little work and a lot of reading.

yeah.. I have read instructions over and over again, and I follow Sun's directions to the t, but nothing is ever said how to get it my firefox to recognize it, sure I get it installed easy, and its all good from there, but then i go to verify install, and it still says its missing.. I got rid of Fedora Core anyways, and using dual booting windows/ubuntu/mandriva/suse..

In my case I did this:
First login as ROOT
- open Konqueror
- open /opt/MozillaFirefox/lib/plugins/
- open /usr/java/jre1.5.0_01/plugin/i386/ns7/
- hold the libjavaplugin_oji.so with leftclick of your mouse and drag it to /opt/MozillaFirefox/lib/plugins/
- You will have the options copy/create link/move select create link
