Java (jre131i.xpi) plugin. How do you Install?

Hi, I'm using Mozilla 0.94 in MD8.1 and have never been able to download a plugin either completely yet alone have it install, so I have manually downloaded the JRE plugin with the extension 'xpi'. The file is recognized as an archive file but on trying to open it, it says the file is not in its path. I have no idea what to do with it.

How do I install it so that mozilla can use it?

the .xpi is a module for the mozilla installer.,not a plugin. check your distro disks for the java runtime enviroment (jre) install it and then select >help> release notes, from mozilla for instructions on creating the symlinks. the paths given in the release notes may be different for mandrake, (it was for suse).

for plugins, if you don't have netscape 4.7X installed, install it(even if your not going to use it), then copy/paste from the 4.7x plugins directory to the mozilla plugins directory.

Thanks rshaw but I didn't want Netscape and couldn't find the jre in the cd's.

I found the java pluggin at Sun and managed to install it after many headaches. Mozilla 0.94 uses the NS 6 pluggin the v4 pluging won't let mozilla start for some reason. All's well now.

We live and learn. Thanks for your help.
