java app as service

I'm a newbie java programmer.
I built a didactic work which pretends to be a simple proxy server

So I was wondering how I can set it up to work as service in my linux box.

In fact I have 3 pc in my LAN, and a linux box runs all the time as firewall-gateway for my internal net.

I really would like to see my linux firewall runs my little java proxy app too, so that it starts as service as the linux gateway starts.

Any ideas would be really appreciated!

Came on!!
I can't believe nobody is able to do this...

All i want is just to make a java
application starts as the pc starts.

Is that so complicated to be done??

Have you tried creating a simple rc script? Just put whatever command you use to start the app manually into your script. Be sure to include the environment variables (ie JAVA_HOME) that you need.
