ISPs

Can anyone suggest a linux friendly ISP in the UK. They all seem very windows oriented. Sadly it would have to be dial up, they dont provide broadband access here

I can't speak for the UK, but here in the US, I would have to say that few or no Linux-based ISPs exist (at least, not yet!), but that doesn't necessarily make them non-Linux-friendly. My ISP is definitely Windows-based, but that doesn't stop me from accessing the Internet, etc., from a Linux box.
Are you having specific problems?

Just about any ISP that doesn't require special software to connect should work, like AOL requires their software to connect in most cases.

Yeah BT is almost working for me. Freeserve and NTL could be good choices aswell.
They do do broadband, and the cost's recently come down too.

Thanks people.
I've tried using some of the popular ones i've used before on my windows machine, like freeserve, and although it appears to connect its so unresponsive that i cant be sure its doing anything at all. Nothing appears on screen and it really is as if the connections been refused and i havent been informed. I'l try again tommorow morning and hopefully manage to get it working or at least have more detailed information on whats wrong.

ps. i think i maybe miscommunicated the issue that it has to be dial up in my previous post. what i meant is that the telephone exchange here is so old it will only handle dial up. (They wont upgrade the exchange until another 150 people or something register there interest).
