Well, since it's a laptop, I don't know what I can do as far as a power source. But, my roommate has a laptop, I can check the specs and maybe switch the ram out with his. I'm at work at the moment, but I'll investigate more when I get home. Also, it's all under warrenty, I am about to have the hinges fixed, maybe I can convince them to swap the ram....we'll see.

I guess the main thing that kills me is...if it's a hardware issue, how come it's never shown up in other distributions?

It's possible your RAM has only recently become flaky.
It's also possible that PCLinuxOS is loading modules or libraries in a certain order whereby important data is being put into the damaged area of RAM, when with other distros it's not.
P.S. Does memtest always crash at the same point?

Well, I'll have to run memtest again and see what percentage it's locking up on. I did go to Best Buy today and they will gladly replace it if they test it and it's indeed buying the farm. I'm going to hang on to my computer until I come back from visiting my parents, though, so I'll have it for another week or so. It is indeed possible that it's using a damaged area for storage and also that maybe it's only recently started being flaky. I'll try to run memtest and see if it freezes up on 68% again.

Hummm, well it's locking up on 68%. So maybe there is a damaged location in the memory?

I'd say that's probably it.
Hopefully your warranty will cover it. You might lose out on your farm though...

Haha! Well, I'm sure they'll cover it. Thank you for all of your help. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my posts. I'll reply here again when I get my computer sent off and see the result. Again, thanks, and Merry Christmas!!!
