Is there a way to find out where did all the hard disk space go?

Is there a way to find out where did all the hard disk space go?

For some reason my hard disk usage is going up but it does not go down even if I "rm" some files.

I am running on Fedora 4.

thank you.

Could try someting like this:
du -s * | sort -nr > $HOME/space_report.txt
Will list programs and their sizes in a text file in the users Home directory.

Then to view the results:
cd (leave the cd command blank with no arguments so it changed to the user's home dir.)
less space_report.txt

if you use a package manager like yum then you can delete its cache as when you install a software it downloads its rpm but doesnt deletes it

If you have KDE libraries installed, KDirStat is a very nice graphical utility that lets you see how your hard disk is used.
