Is there a way to duplicate a machine exactly.

The reason i ask is:
1) Id like to have an exact copy of my machine in case of machine failure. In case of machine failure id like to get another machine, plop in a disk and do an install and have it automatically setup as i had my other machine. I have heard of this being done, but not sure how.

Thanks for your time.

Surely there is, I just don't know how to do it...

You could try here for some tips though:

I've heard that to create a bootable CD you need to put the "bootable" part in the first 1.44 meg. From there I guess it would be a matter of simply rebuilding the old filesystem.

i don't think www.linuxfromscratch.com will give info on backing up. you can perform a search on google or try www.linuxdoc.org or some other resources like www.sourceforge.net .......
