Is there a really decent Linux Chat Site?
So far, chat sites that show up on search engines exhibit offensive and not-like-Linux behavior. I'm looking for a chat site that is online 24-7. In case I'm in need of some quick help when I'm short of time... And I don't have any chat clients yet. Suggestions? |
well there aren't any chat "sites" really, just superb forums like this. I assume you mean an IRC channel such as #linuxhelp on irc.chatjunkies.org, i spend a fair bit of time there.

You can actually goto irc.linux.org or pretty much any large IRC network and do a /list linux when connected. You will see alot of channels. Most large servers have alot of users in #linux #linuxhelp or even #distro where distro is your distro. Its hard to find a decent sized server without alot of linux ppl, even help channels :)

Sorry, but I'm quite new to being online. I'm having difficulties learning how chat, especially the terminologies, and any advanced stuff like commands, etc...
Is there a starter for people like me? |
there's not really anythign to "start" on, just get an irc client like mIRC in windows or xchat in linux and go from there, there's nothing to really be told.... what do you mean by that?
|
Ok, I'll do that... Thanks!

irc.lazyadmins.org #linux-boxen
|
irc.freenode.net
Its a server dedicated to free and open source projects. There are channels for all of the distros. Common channels are: #RedHat #Mandrake #Gentoo #Debian #Slackware All of which have quite a few users. #Debian has at least 200 on a bad day... |
there's good irc howto info here, http://irchelp.org/
