is it possible to bind controls in alsa?
Greetings all, I think this is the correct place to put this, if it's not then admins feel free to move it.
On to the question however. With alsa, is there any way to take the output from one control (say Aux) and have that output come out of another (say PCM). Here is my problem:
I have an Audigy 2 ZS card which works great and I'm using the digital out on it to my amp. Everything works excellent except that the Aux input (which I use for my TV Tuner) won't output to the digital out, in fact none of the analog inputs do. This is because the digital out takes whatever is played from the PCM and digitizes that signal for use. Unfortunately alsa is taking the output from Aux and putting it towards the 'Front' control and not the PCM. I can hear TV audio playing when I use my headphones that are plugged into the analog output on the card so I know that the TV card is working properly. I was just wondering if there was a way through a config file (perhaps .asoundrc?) which would allow me to patch the output from Aux to the PCM control.
Another problem this causes is if I try to record anything on TV with streamer, it doesn't record anything as streamer seems to only want to record audio from the PCM.
I'm not positive as it has confused me every time I tried to read through it, but would JACK allow me to do this? I'm still a bit confused on how JACK works, but if that's my only way out I'll figure it out. Thanks a ton.
