Lightbulb Is Installing from source code from any Linux OS be done?


Is Installing from source code can be done from any Linux OS be it a RedHat or a Debain?

You can compile an application on any system that has gcc or equivalent and has the kernel headers installed. (All of the kernel source is not needed except to compile the kernel)

Actually I only installed the kernel headers when I installed g++, gcc (gcc as in gnu C compiler) doesn't need it.

Linux is an OS. Redhat, Fedora, Slackware, and several thousands more are Linux distributions. Some distributions are based on a certain distribution. Others are created from scratch from compiling. A Linux distribution like Gentoo is a good example that all programs are compiled.

BTW, "be it" is bad grammar.
