Is hirens boot cd useful

I saw this nice cd .. i see it has lots of freeware and everybody recommends it for backing up and stuff.

Is it really useful for helping linux if something goes wrong ?

Wow .. i finished downloading it .. i see it's got RIPlinuX and a minimal windows xp ... that's ... very nice !

When in riplinux you can do lots of things , like browsing the web , restoring grub 2 , and a lot of stuff .

Did it ever save your Linux ? or perhaps you just used the distros live cd and solved the problem just from the plain terminal ? :)

When you got to minwinsxp open HBCD menu there are a lot of useful tools.
Not only that but it can boot most os'es.

yes , too bad they don't have some kind of explanation ... so you need to make xp detect the wireless and connect to the net using the opera browser (i saw it has it in the hbcd menu) to get the explanations online ..

what about the riplinux it has ... is it good?

I think miniwinsxp connects to internet, I never tried but some of the software on HBCD Menu updates before going into action.

yea gparted is nice but how can it help you when you try to rescue your computer ... ofcourse it could help by deleting and formating partitions but ... (the only thing that comes to mind is shrink a partition and make another to save important data there )

Gparted also has other tools it can boot an os and it has image software to repair mbr and lost partitions.
