Hi all,
is anybody using cox broadband as their ISP? 1) If you are, how do you install the software for mandrake 9.1? 2) Or better yet, do you NEED to install the software to get online?
Distribution: Currently Suse 11.1 but have RH7,8,9 / Fedora 7,8_64,9_64,&10_64

Rep:
not in my experiance
used cox in PHX but that was bout a year ago
my brother runs a BSD box off COX
turn on dhcp call into the Number that came in the box with
get the tech to turn on the box
blam !!
here at home I set up with Bellsouth DSL
and had to get the default IP for the router/modem they sent to activate the web interface
which will most likely be all you need
go to whatever mandrakes Config network thing is and set up
ppp after you finish with the tech dude
it should pull the DNS information itself
then activate it thru the eth0 interface
the default IP on your modem should be
192.168.1.254 or some such private address
check with tech
