IRC linux_help channel

looking for an irc linux channel to lurk around in
not that linuxquestions.org isn't awesome for asking questions but i like to discuss things in real time. so i'm looking for a linux discussion channel or a help channel to join since mine recently disbanded for personal/family related issues. Can't live your life on the internet (although some of us wouldn't mind .)

What i'm getting at is someone needs to adopt me

Basically any IRC server normally has #linux and #linuxhelp, but FreeNode has one that I've been to a few times, it is fairly active and they don't mind newbie questions and the like.

Altho logging onto something like #linuxhelp and asking the question "Can anybody recommend a good IRC linux help channel?" is frowned upon

Speaking of IRC, I've not used it for a couple of years & my memory is faded. Anyone recommend a good guide as a refresher?

irc.arstechnica.com #linux although most of the people there frown upon Gentoo use, most likely you'll get help but you'll also get a lot of jokes...
