iptable configuration with guarddog permanent regardless wm?

Do I need a new firewall If I configure my iptables with guarddog in kde and decide to use fluxbox instead? Or are the settings permanent regardless windowmanager? I mean does the configured iptables load with kde because of guarddog or before X?

Thanks in advance for replies!

if the changes were made to a script (as is standard for iptables), then it doesn't matter what GUI, WM, DE, or X you have, if it needs to run the program every time to start the firewall, then its a bad app, and it still wont matter what WM you use.
