I want to setup a firewall in my linux box.but i am so much confused whether i should used ipchain or iptable or ip Masquerading.
i know i am asking some silly question.but i want learn all three things start from strach.
and i want to learn how i can build powerful firewall for my linux box.
and i had read so many artical on web and surfing some may web site abut still not satified.infact after seeing all web links now i m so much confused.
and i don't know where is starting point to setup powerful firewall.so plz guide me.....
can any one help me out plz...
or if any have some web links plzzz.it wi'll be highly appricate.
IPTables is really where you are going to set up your firewall rules. IPchains is an older version ised mainly in the 2.2 Kernels, and IPtables is the current version used in the 2.4 kernels. IP masquerading is just a version of NAT that can be set up through IPtables/ipchains.
