Angry ip addresss from utmp


hi there
i am facing this new problem

while trying to retrieve ip address from the utmp file

i am not able to retrieve address from the UTMP file
i am not able to rtetrieve ip address for the local users "root" and others.
alsoi i am facing the same problem for dumb clients also .
but when i look out for the clients logged through telnet
i am getting the correct ip address.......


i am using "inet_ntop" in my program to get the ip addressss from the utmp fiel ip_addr_v6[4]; from the utmp field


i saw in some other system where "who" was displaying ip add. in the LINE field,while mine does not show the ip address for dumb clients

pl. help
