Internships at new Linux startup
 
Hello,

Spliced Networks LLC is a Linux startup based in South-East Ohio.
We have a couple of intern positions available, and are seeking
individuals with a keen interest in Linux, IP Networking, a thirst for
knowledge and willingness to learn new things quickly.

These positions are ideal if you are knowledgable with Linux, but don't
have the necessary experience to get an IT job, or a better IT job.
Perhaps you want to do software engineering, but you don't have the
bachelors degree or the programming experience.

Highlights:

+ Project based Linux work (all open source)
+ We'll direct you and assist you on enhancing existing open source projects
+ You'll gain experience, and we'll provide you with a reference
+ Access to our lab resources (cisco, packeteer, cacheflow etc).
+ Opportunity to work on a new Linux platform
+ Projects will enhance networking features in Linux (eg. WCCP, VRRP/HSRP etc)
+ Projects also include OS enhancements (such as self-optimization, self-repair systems)

What we are looking for:

+ Good Linux skills (you can install redhat, recompile kernel, looked at kernel source)
+ Can at least read C, ideally have some programming experience
+ Can use SSH, and are security-aware

Not necessary but are a plus:

+ Familiar with apache, squid, snort, postfix or other similar applications
+ PHP, Perl, MySQL knowledge

The positions are remote (teleworking), all of your work will be open sourced, and you are gaurenteed a reference if you put in the work.
