Internet doesnt work w/SuSE 9

I just recently loaded SuSE and everything looks great except I cant get onto the internet. Previously with my other linux distro (Redhat 9) it did it all for me...so I quess I never paid enough attention to what modules/process' are needed. SuSE found and configured my NIC but regardless of what I've tried...no luck.

I have disabled the firewall...no luck.
I have looked for protocols that I know I need to get connected (using a cable modem) via YaST (Network Services) but again...no luck
I have entered my static IP address that WinXP says I have...no luck
I have switched to DHCP...no luck

Which modules or process' must be loaded for eth1 to work?

Please advise....and thanks for your response.

If you provide us with some hardware details, it might get faster and better answers.

it should be eth0

if you have a nforce ethernet card then you need to get the drivers from the NVIDIA site.

similar isues

i have similar issues in suzy 9....when i try to connect to the internet i get a message that says "DHCP client allredy running on eth0" I have a linksys bsfr41 4 port router(DHCP server), asustech nic(eth0), d-link nic(eth1), i get no reply when pinging my router, i have a tri-boot(winxp home/ pro/ suzy 9) setup and everything works fine on the win side.

i also removed the router and tried setting up pppoe (for my ADSL) still nothing.

if this got fixed it would be dope, i love suzy but, without internet access i must resort to winblows
