Internet connection problem


I use the xwindows to setup the proxy client , now I can access the internet on the xwindows .
but when I run "up2date" on the Terminal , it pop the proxy has problem to connect to the web so that can't run up2date , could suggest how to make me can run "up2date" ? thx

Setup your http_proxy environment for your terminal or for the bash shell..

export HTTP_PROXY=<your-proxy-configuration-here>

thx reply ,

when run up2date , it pop "Error communicating with server. The message was:
Proxy Authentication Required ( The ISA Server requires authorization to fulfill
the request. Access to the Web Proxy service is denied. ) " , it seems not connect to internet , you suggest to setup http_proxy , i hv done it , but not work , the RH connect windows proxy to connect internet , I tried the below but still not work , could suggest what is wrong ? thx


export http_proxy="http://userassword@proxy_iport"

If I just want to run up2date , could suggest except setup http_proxy , is there other way that I can run it ? thx

Turn off your proxy server or allow this server direct access outside the proxy if you don't know how to get around it.. I'm not sure, I don't know anything about your proxy server you have to pass thru to get to the net.

Yeah but honestly, up2date is a horrible update tool.. you should look into using yum instead.
