Intel 4500MHD White screen problems on Ubuntu 8.10

Hi all, a friend of mine bought a laptop that has Intel 4500MHD as a graphic card. He tried installing Ubuntu 8.10 but after install the screen went all white and he was forced to use the vesa driver.

The white screen always appeared when he used the "intel" or "i810" as the driver in xorg.conf. Is there any way to get the 4500MHD working on his laptop ?

Hi,

I had a similar problem. It should be the intel drivers. Try the following:

1. Download this fix

2. Install/Reinstall the 3 .deb files provided

3. Change driver from "vesa" to "intel" in xorg.conf

4. Restart X

Hopefully, that should do it.
