Installing windows AFTER linux??!?

Ok, here's the deal....

My computer was an entirely Linux machine but I really miss red alert 2...so please dont give me any grief on this.

/dev/hda is divided between /home /boot and /

.dev hdd has a 1048 swap partition, a 5015 /storage

AND...2001 free space that was originally ext 3

Windows is not seeing the free space when i boot to the 98se install cd... and won't install. any advice?

Windows won't see any files system that it chooses not to, when you say it 'was' ext3 what does that make it now?

Well, it shows up as just "free space" but gnupart may not have chnged it to a fat system....could this be the problem or do win partitions have to be on first partition of first hd?

If its still ext3 that'll be the issue..If the free space is its own partition you could format it to fat32..
For some reason whenever I formatted fat32 paritions using linux fdisk windows never detected it so I had to format all windows partitions using windows software..

So it is possible to install windows on the second partition of the second harddrive?

Well the mbr still has to be on the primary master I think, winxp and win2k don't like it (complain about multiple os's) but win98 is ok..
