installing win98 with winxp and linux

I created a new partition on my hard drive and want to install win98se on it but don't want it to screw my lilo boot. I have mandrake linux and winxp installed also. can someone help me with this? Or is there at least a way to repair lilo if it is overwritten?

gram_vaz; from little knowledge i,ve got you maybe not able to. the advice
read was install W first then linux. one thing u left out was size of hdd?
my reason is expansion of apps added to last installs is a limitation due to
hdd size. so path to take is attempt to install w98se infront of wxp. providing hdd xlg.

The #1 rule in working with computers is:
Never believe that it can't be done. What you want to do may be awkward or
inconvenient or impractical, but if you want it enough and refuse to give up,
you can find a way.

There is a tremendous amount of useful info about multibooting on the web.
Just google 'multibooting' and wade into the hits.

Mandrake, like most other distros, has on its bootable install CDs a repair facility
which will restore lilo quickly & easily. Just boot the CD & follow the directions.

Best wishes.

Thanx for that speech jamuz! It's uplifting. I'm always trying to do weird things with my computer and I always try to find a way to do it and try never to give up. I'm writing that rule down.

Hi,

So you have a M$ & Linux on your HDD. And like to install W98 right? If you do, W98 will kill you bootloader and you will not be able to boot from M$ and Linux. Because W98 will erase the MBR and write it on W98.

If you want this so bad. I suggest you install W98 on an unused Partition and after completing installing W98. Try to recover your linux bootloader.

If you have no more free partition but still have a huge free space. Try using Partition Magic. to safely make a new partition for your W98.

OR

Get a spare HDD, Install W98 there :)
